Apple Reportedly Working on New Smart Home Device | Hypebeast
Apple is working on a smart home display – one that’s inspired by a classic iMac from the early 2000s, Bloomberg’s Marc Gurman reported.
The smart home device will reportedly be an entirely new addition to the Apple product lineup and will feature an “old school iMac-like base.” The base is said to emulate the iMac G4, a personal computer that launched in 2002 and included a screen connected to a spherical base, allowing the screen to swivel.
According to Gurman, the device will be smaller than some anticipated, roughly the size of “two iPhones side by side,” with the screen positioned at an angle.
The smart device will run on a new operating system with some apps carried over from the iPad, Gurman reported. He also noted that it’s one of two smart devices Apple is working on – the other is said to be a higher-end video conferencing tool that swivels on a robotic arm. That device, however, isn’t expected to launch until 2026.
