While the original house was built in 1993, the current owners used New Canaan's James Schettino Architects to strip it down to its foundation in 2019 and rebuild it, according to information provided by William Pitt Sotheby's Realty. The upgrades include expanding the living space, incorporating smart home technology and adding large windows to bring natural light into the house. The smart technology has features like added security and automated shades, according to Crestron Home. The property has hit the market for $16 million and was last sold in 2018 for $6.7 million.
"It was originally a small home, it was very very dated and our clients basically took it down to the studs and beyond ... There is nothing besides the front visage that resembles the original," listing agent Christine Straden said.

From the one-acre property, individuals can take in views of Noroton Bay and the Manhattan skyline. It has a terrace with a firepit by the water and a deep-water dock. Aside from the ocean water, residents can take a dip in the property's outdoor pool.
"The best aspect of the property is the direct waterfront and incredible views," listing agent Molly Watkins said. "Being far out on Long Neck Point gives water views on both sides, so they get the sunrise in the front of the house and the beautiful sunsets on the back of the house. The architect was very good in incorporating the different times of day into the property," Straden added.
The colonial house's listing agents described the 8,195-square-foot property as "understated," "private" and "comfortable." The interior has six bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms.
"It's a very special and very comfortable home ... It's not like a McMansion," Straden said. "It's a very manageable space, but at the same time it's incredibly beautiful."
There are niches in the house that are ideal for displaying artwork, according to the agents, and another artistic feature of the house is several porcelain molds, designed to look like hands, that hold paper towels.
